Weekend Nachos food interview

We at Belly Kids are planning on releasing a totally yummy cookery book in the future. All the recipes will be collected from bands, producers, promoters and labels who we think are awesome. In total there should be around 20 artsists involved (we hope). We asked Chicago punx 'Weekend Nachos' to get involved but sadly they had nothing recipe based to contribute! That's cool though because here is a short Q and A session we had with them about the food which we love!

I think the most obvious question has to be 'Weekend Nachos' how did you come up with the name and how often does it get related to the tasty snack?
The band name gets related to food all the time, people make jokes about "Weekday Tacos" and what not, like a play on our band name...those people are morons and they think they're being funny but they aren't at all, it's just like a bad joke that a Dad tells his kids or something. A friend of mine helped me come up with that band name...but it really does not have any meaning whatsoever! Just goofy nonsense.

What would your dream meal to share as a band be? Or do you all have particular tastes that don't easily match?
I'd say we all generally enjoy pizza, that's something we can agree on. Other than that, we all have different tastes. My dream meal would probably be a slab of ribs with french fries, corn on the cob, and an ice cold bottle of Mexican Coca Cola. Can't really top that in my eyes!

Are promoters in the States good at laying on food at shows? Whats the best thing that you've been given?
Honestly, it's hit or miss. Sometimes the person doing the show will buy food for the bands, but i'm going to go ahead and say that most of the time it does not happen that way. There have been a few shows i've played where the promoter bought a bunch of pizzas for all of the bands. That is always amazing! In San Jose, our friends there made us like, a billion tacos and we were feasting on those for hours and hours after the show. It was almost like they never ran out of food and just kept making more of it. We ate a lot that night.

Would you say there was any good fast food out there? (I used to have an urge to buy the Burger King bean burger! until recently, thanks to a friend, i figured out it is so bland and dry)

Well, this is America so yes, fast food is pretty much what puts us on the map! McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, Taco Bell, and the more region-specific ones: White Castle, Jack In The Box, In N Out, etc....they are all wonderful. I love fast food especially on tour. When i'm home, i try to stay away from it as much as possible but when we are on tour i eat it non-stop! Feels great.

Im giving you 4/5 toppings on a pizza, what would they be? and if vegan, gimme an alternative because i would miss pizza to much!
Hmm, for me personally...grilled chicken, mushrooms, bacon, pepperoni and tomatoes would make for an excellent 5 topping pizza!

Are you guys vegan, veggie? How easy a choice is that to nail down in the States? Im not sure how many times youve been to Europe but is the selection of food greater or lesser?
I am not vegan or vegetarian, no...but Drew is vegan and Andy is vegetarian. Brian and I love to eat meat! I'd say that eating vegan is getting easier and easier over the years in the United States...because it's growing in popularity to a lot of places are making more options available. I have never been to Europe so I have no idea what it's like there!!! We're coming in about a month so we'll see!

Is cooking/baking something you try and do, and how good are you? Or just something you leave to others?
I am personally a very terrible cook...however, i am pretty good at making breakfast. My scrambled eggs and home fries always turn out really good, so whenever i cook, i just make breakfast no matter what time of day it is, haha! Otherwise, i either eat out at a restaurant or i have my girlfriend make me something.
